Those two girls obviously have no clue about light control in a darkroom. The only light that is safe in a darkroom is the one used when developing the prints and within the enlarger … if anyone had their paper out, it is now fogged.

Any kind of light OTHER than the red or orange in a B&W dark room will ruin any photographic paper open and left out. Now, with that said, many a - staged - photo can be made in a darkroom with a camera with a flash as long as light sensitive materials are covered or put away (the papers used to print on)..

The flash from a digital is the same darn flash as from a film camera, there is no diff here…. Only the camera is different. If you want to take pics in a B&W darkroom, ask everyone first and give them time to put their paper away.. BEFORE you fire off your camera with the flash on…

Now, if you KNOW for certain your flash is NOT on, you can try to take a pic with the safe lights on in the darkroom. Your pics will be very red or orange and most likely blurred because it will be a time exposure, unless you use a tripod. But make sure your flash is OFF..!

No, no, no. NO white light is to be used in the darkroom. It’ll ruin your photographs and your photographic paper.
