What do you think of this photographer’s work? http://www.eloisefifield.co.uk/page3.htm
We’re considering hiring her for our wedding next year. She’s currently charging COST PRICE because she’s using the photo shoots to compile a portfolio.
Shealunaria, I’m sorry you feel that way, because I think the portraiture and wedding galleries are by far the best on the site.
Fizzy Stuff - I don’t agree with some of your points, esp the angled shots, and the B&W shots w/coloured bits. I think those styles look really nice, but obviously people have different tastes.
I’ll discuss what styles I want when I meet with her. Hopefully she will be able to show me bigger collection than is on the site.
Thanks for opinions so far BTW - it’s good to see what other people think.

I think her architectural photos are beautiful. Fantastic shot of the church aisle. But her photos of people? Not impressed. You’d do just as well to ask two or three friends and relatives to take candid shots with their digital cameras.

She has real talent. I would book her. Just be sure that along with the natural snapshots, she also does some really good formal pictures, as well. Trust me, you will want those to show off the beauty of your wonderful day.

Yes, I love photography that focuses on candid shots and not posed shots. Candids are the times you want to remember and she has a good collection of those on her website.
I say meet with her, get a feel for how she is in person and then hire her if you feel good about it

she does exceptional work!! not only does she capture the traditional wedding poses but does a wonderful job at catching “real life” images as well (when people are least expecting to be photographed) and they came out even better!!!
I say use her-you won’t regret it.
and congrats to you!!!

In my opinion, some of the shots are really nice. Others are fair at best (in the way of professional photography). In the case of the candid photography, it would be my opinion that you’d get better shots if you bought a few of the disposable cameras and have the guests shoot the reception for you.
It is also my opinion that if you really like this photographer’s work and the cost is right for your budget, you should do what works for you. You are the one who’s going to be getting these photos. It shouldn’t matter what anyone else thinks of the work if you like it.
By the way, congrats on your upcoming wedding! =)

Standard and nothing out of the ordinary in my opinion. I prefer more artistic or photojournalist rather than posed cliche pics, but again, that’s a matter of opinion.
If you are happy with it, that’s all that matters
Good luck

I dont think the pictures are amazing. Standard. But not above par.
Why?
1. Overly angled shots (see cake and groom w/ groomsmen) are the signature amateur shots.
2. The candid shots mostly caught people on the sides of their face, rather than the front, you lose a lot of expression by taking a side shot.
3. The close-ups were not close up enough (see flowers picture - too much going on. That shot should either be a flower picture, or a bodice of the dress picture, but not both).
4. I am not a fan of the black & white with one color (see groom with pink tie). You have to be careful when doing that. See the bouquet close-up with red and white flowers - the in color white flowers clash severely with the black & white background, giving the white roses a grey tinge.
**Yes, if you like it thats what matters since you are the one paying.

I think her collection is fantastic. Much better than many I have seen, and I wouldn’t doubt booking her. It looks as if she has a lot of experience, with at least 5 weddings under her belt, and I wonder how many more she hasn’t added to the site yet…
And if she’s doing it for cost price, you certainly can’t go wrong! Like you said, she’s cheaper because she’s using the job to build up her portfolio, and therefore her experience; so she’s clearly not reached the professional status yet. Bearing this in mind, I think her level of talent is way above that of an amateur.
Her talents are well-rounded too, which makes her a good contact to have; she can take your family photos in a couple of years
I would go for it if I were you; it’s a great offer.

Her shots are 50/50. Some are great, and some have bad use of lighting. BUT, this is common…that’s why they take so many pictures. If she’s still building a portfolio, it makes sense that she has less-than-the-best pictures on her site. I would go with this photographer but make it clear that you want a lot of pictures to be taken. You’ll be happy in the end.

Looks like she does great work. Real life photos rather than all poses.
