Wedding Photography?

wedding photography
Sarena M asked:

I am doing a wedding shoot for a friend tomorrow. Until now, I’ve only photographed children and babies professionally. But she asked me and I said I would do it as my gift to her. I’ve been researching poses and ideas etc. But the problem is this:
The Bride is quite a bit taller than the groom. She is a plus size woman about 5′9″ and the groom is a heavy set man about 5′7″. With her wedding shoes, she will be even taller.
What poses can I do to minimize the size difference between them in the shot?
Thanks!

You can always put the bride in a chair I suppose… but I think you should embrace their height differences! That is who they are and who they will be for life!

maybe do a couple poses of her sitting on a pretty bench or chair, and him standing behind her?

or have them pose on steps, and have her on one step and him on the step above her, like standing behind her?

I am not a photogropher but what i think you should do is try low angled shots. This way it will seem like both of them are towering. But that will only get you 1 or 2 shots then it will be boring. Another thing you could try is taking high up shots lets say from a balcony or something

You could take a lot of sitting down pictures like having one kneel in front of the other or sitting on a bench in a gazebo. Or, it might seem crazy but you could have her take her shoes off. You shouldn’t be able to tell in the picture if the dress is long enough. That might be to embarrassing to ask someone though.

don’t shoot head on always turn them at an angle, maybe have them sit with groom in back and bride leaning against him with her dress spread out, if her dress is long enough have her take her shoes off for some of the shots.. they know they are different heights so if that is captured that is ok.

You can also have her sit on a bench.. or have her stand and him on his knee looking at her

there is a lot of stuff you can do. They know about the height and weight thing though. Just take beautiful pics and it won’t matter. One that would be really pretty, is her getting out of the limo. have him take her hand and help her out in her dress. So pretty and will hide the height difference. also this sounds bad, but look up other photographers and see the stuff they do. It will be fine. Good luck

well, here is a pic trick. To make the groom look taller you can bring a little stool and just shoot the upper half of there bodies. if you want a full photograph though ask the bride to take off her shoes to make her seem shorter OR you can just talk to them before the wedding I’m sure they won’t care if the groom is shorter it’s love that really matters right? If they do care about the difference than just do that pic trick and I’m sure it will be great! I hope your pics turn out the way you want them to be!

Good Luck!

Maybe if there’s stairs nearby, he could be standing a few stairs above her. Or they could be sitting down, too..
