Wedding Photography Question -?
Here is my problem,
This is my second year advertising my wedding photography. Last year I did something called “stuff its” at a bridal show. I was able to make a flyer and print 1300+ copies of it. And before the show they would place a 1 flyer in each wedding bag for the show. So when people came into the show they each got a bag that they could carry around and put stuff in from vendors at the show. So this year I am doing it again in my home town of Cleveland with 1700 Flyers for one show. They have another show in Akron that is only 1000 flyers. I have to pay the same about of $495 for each show, to have my flyers placed. Plust the cost to print them. So the difference would be this - $1584.09 to make 2700 flyers and advertise at both the Cleveland and Akron Shows, or $902.79 to print 1700 flyers and advertise at just the Cleveland show ? A price difference of $681.30. Is that worth it for 700 less flyers at another show ? Should I do both or just one show ??? Please advise.
I know this is not the business section, IT IS a WEDDING question. And I need answers. I have to decide today what to do. I have it posted in business as well. But havent heard anything yet.

I agree with Tiff Tiff. You’ll make the money back with 1 client. It’s a good investment.
Of course, I say this assuming you had a good response from the last bridal show you did.

I think in the end, the benefit of advertising at both shows could be immense. First off, you are going to be advertising to two distinct markets. People in Akron might not necessarily think to go to the Cleveland show, so by advertising at both places, you’d end up with a wider base of prospective customers. Also, if someone happes to go to both the Akron show and the one in Cleveland, maybe seeing your flyer the second time will convince them to give you a call.

This is my thougth as a bride who has been to bridal shows! I have been to several of these bridal shows and I get handed a lot of stuff and there is tons of stuff in the bag before I even start looking at vendors!
I always remember the face and how colorful there card/flyers is. If I didn’t see you or talk to you I set that stuff off to the side. Compare prices and then If I don’t like any of that stuff I look at the other flyers and prices! I normally take a camera and take pic of the vendors ideas and then of the flyer so I remember who had what.
So if you are just placing them in the bag and not talking to any brides, It might not be worth it! I personally have only hired people I have seen and made a good impression!
Plus if your going to be my photographer, I want to make sure that I can stand you being in my face all day long on a stress full, wonderful, special day!

Unless you have more business than you can handle, and assuming you’re worth your fees (which I have no reason to doubt or you would not be advertising for a second year - your reputation would preceed you)… I say go for both.
Do you also get a booth to display your work or is it simply an insert?
Either way, do both.

Why dont you print your own flyers? It has to be cheaper! Get a trial verson of photoshop or something and make somethin that stands out! Those brides are getting dozens of flyers. So make yours show your everything they want *professional, prompt, priced well and talented! Oh, Put a link to a website w/ your portfolio and let ppl see your work. Personally, I didnt hire anyone w/o a website.
And as far as your actual question. What are the chances many ppl will be at both shows? I live in Ct So I have no idea about how far apart those locals are. Also, save your receipt for those flyers for tax time buisness expense!!!

do both shows! i think its worth it.. even if you get one client from the 681.30.. it will pay you back!
